Chiefs sign LT Eric Fisher to contract extension (The Associated Press)

Eric Fisher could be protecting the blind side for Kansas City Chiefs quarterbacks for the next six years. The Chiefs announced they had signed the left tackle to a contract extension Saturday, the first day veterans such as Fisher joined rookies on the practice field at Missouri Western for training camp. The Chiefs did not announce terms of the extension, but a person familiar with the negotiations told The Associated Press it was a four-year, $48 million deal that includes $40 million guaranteed.

Redskins adding former GM Bobby Beathard to Ring of Fame (The Associated Press)

After building three Super Bowl-winning teams, former general manager Bobby Beathard will finally get his name on the Washington Redskins' Ring of Fame this season. With rosters constructed by Beathard, Washington won three Super Bowls and appeared in a fourth over a span of 10 years. ''His resume is more than impressive,'' team president Bruce Allen said Saturday.
